Volunteer's Testimonial

I spent a week at the orphanage home that David runs from his home and it truly was an amazing experience. The orphanage children are so great and each are such amazing characters.
orphanage children are such a joy to be around and living with this family truly brought a smile to my face everyday. The family were so welcoming and kind to us and they really made me feel like I was a part of their family, which when you're away from home for the first time is such a comforting feeling. Having traveled now for a couple of months, I can safely say that my experience at the orphanage is still one of my highlights and an experience I know I will never forget.
I feel so privileged to have been able to live with this beautiful family and I'd like to thank David from the bottom of my heart for all the work he has done to build it up. I would highly recommend working at the orphanage to anyone who is visiting Nepal, you won't regret it! This is a very special family and I'm looking forward to the next time I get to come back and visit.

""I came alone in Nepal for 3 months on September to December 2011. Once I arrived at the Kathmandu airport, I was so scared, but David directly came to me and welcomed me very kindly. When we arrived to the orphanage home, the children were in front of the door and looked at me with a smile which could melt all Himalayan mountains. I will never forget this picture.
They all considered me as a member of their family. Mariya (David’s wife) learnt me nepali cook and care for a baby, David learnt me some nepali words and expressions. Thanks to them and their family (Rama, Suman…) I discovered the nepali culture and traditions. They learnt me with kindness to become a “nepali people”. I really felt at home during I was there.
orphanage Children are always smiling, happy, playful… I was so surprise. They are very clever; they speak very well English so the first day you directly become close with them. I helped them with a great pleasure to do their homework and after homework finished we did games. They are so lovely.
When children are at school (end of morning until beginning of afternoon), you can visit and explore Kathmandu alone, nepali people are so welcoming. Before coming I thought to bring a lot of things, but I received much more. I really enjoyed my experience in the HFN orphanage with these lovely people!""

Volunteer's Testimonial My experiences Himalayan Foundation Nepal with orphanage was definitely one of the most blessed and cherished memories. It totally brushed my thought and opened my mind. I was doubted and worried before I stepped out the Airport because I was afraid of the safety and cleanness in Kathmandu. However, I was totally welcomed and greeted by the most lovely smiles and laughs of the orphanage children, who took care of each other (and me 3)without any selfish. David, the pastor of the church, manages the orphanage like a family.
Every morning the children pray in the living room and sing songs. It is not a requirement to volunteers to join the morning pray, but welcome to be a part of them. As well as night pray, every day at six o’clock, we would sit on the carpet in the living room like a circle, sing the pray songs in Nepalese, read Holy Bible, and pray for everyone we care about.
It was kind, warm, and beloved. Meals the traditional local food that taste the best with serving by right hand, were offered twice a day at 9 am and 7 pm.
There is no set duty for volunteer; however, they welcome everyone to join the daily like, such as walking to the school, talking to their teachers, helping to finish homework, and playing with them. I can never forget their smiles and hugs. I will go back to visit them for sure!
